Environmental considerations are increasingly becoming a decisive factor in purchasing decisions in the construction and furnishing industry. While on the one hand consumers are making more conscious decisions, on the other hand sustainability considerations are flowing into the strategic decisions of responsible companies. Pfleiderer has been a pioneer here for years. Demonstrable, i.e. verifiable sustainability and product quality have long been an integral part of Pfleiderer's corporate philosophy. Now that the wood-based materials manufacturer has had numerous products with the Blue Angel in its range for years, the high-end HPL products can also be purchased certified. Pfleiderer is thus once again one step ahead of the industry - and is currently the only manufacturer with a full range that can offer anti-fingerprint products and worktops with the coveted seal.
Products bearing the Blue Angel seal are more environmentally friendly than comparable products and have been providing consumers with orientation for 40 years. The independent seal applies much stricter criteria than the legal requirements. Wood from sustainable forestry and the use of recycled materials are just as much a part of this as the reduction of emissions from the products. The criteria are reviewed by the Federal Environment Agency every three to four years to keep them up to date. "The criteria are demanding and that's a good thing," says Christian Stiefermann, Head of Product Management HPL and Elements at Pfleiderer. "Because only through a credible environmental seal can we transparently communicate our constant improvements in material properties and manufacturing processes."
Six Duropal products were added to the seal carriers in Pfleiderer's range in July: HPL worktop P2, HPL worktop Hydrofuge, Duropal XTreme, Duropal XTreme plus and Duropal Compact XTreme plus. This expansion of the certified portfolio provides architects, interior designers and furniture manufacturers with advantages above all in the contract business; they can thus offer their customers decisive benefits: In addition to LivingBoard, DecoBoard, HPL and compact laminates as well as composite elements, high-end HPL products can now also be demanded. "On the one hand, we want to offer customers the opportunity to work with environmentally friendly products, and on the other hand, we want to fulfil our responsibility towards future generations," says Christian Stiefermann. "Our goal is to offer planners and architects in interior design the most comprehensive product solutions with the Blue Angel for a wide range of applications." With the certification of its high-end HPL products, Pfleiderer has taken a big step forward on this path.
