Skandinavian feel-good ambience in Antarctica
The MS Roald Amundsen is the world's first expedition ship that is equipped with an electric drive thanks to environmentally friendly hybrid technology. This allows the new ship, which is specially equipped for cruising in polar waters, to glide almost silently through the spectacular Antarctic landscapes. In addition to spacious pool and whirlpool areas on deck, exclusive gourmet restaurants and a large fitness studio, the noble interior furniture with high-quality surfaces and products from Pfleiderer inside all cabins ensure a luxurious stay at the highest level.
"On the high seas, all materials are subject to particularly strict fire protection requirements," explains Guido Alrich, Director Project Business at Pfleiderer. As the market leader in cruise ship interior design, all Pfleiderer HPL products and the Duropal flameprotect compact fire protection panel from the wood materials specialist are certified by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) so they can be used without any problems in all areas of the ship. "We can therefore offer architects and fabricators in this segment an unprecedented variety of decors and products that can be ideally combined," says Guido.
The famous architecture office "Tillberg Design of Sweden" relied in particular on Scandinavian-inspired woods for the design of the MS Roald Amundsen, which ensure an absolutely comfortable stay and a warm feel-good ambience even in the coldest region of the world.
